Hey everyone! I just got an iPad and finally downloaded Procreate because I’ve seen so many cool artworks done with it. I’m excited to start creating, but honestly, I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed. There are so many brushes, tools, and settings—I’m not really sure where to begin.

Do any of you have some beginner tips or advice on what to focus on first? Are there specific brushes that are good for learning, or basic techniques I should practice with? Also, if you know any good tutorials or YouTube channels to follow, that would be amazing. I’d love to hear how you all got started with it and what helped you improve. Thanks in advance!

If you’re just starting out, I highly recommend the Procreate Beginner Series by Procreate’s official YouTube channel. They cover everything from the basic interface to using layers, brushes, and different tools. It’s perfect for understanding the essentials before diving into more complex stuff.

It’s a great way to learn directly from the creators of the app, and the videos are short and easy to follow. I’d say try following along with a couple of their tutorials and see how you feel!

First things first—don’t stress about all the options. Start with the Basic Round Brush, which is great for getting a feel for the app and for sketching.

If you’re looking for tutorials, I recommend checking out Art with Flo on YouTube. She has awesome beginner tutorials that walk you through simple projects step by step, like drawing flowers or landscapes. It’s a great way to learn the basics while creating something cool.
